My World#54 Grand Lisboa, Macau

Photobucket

Grand Lisboa is a casino hotel and restaurant that houses 430 hotel rooms and suites. It is a 58-story skyscraper in Macau and offers 268 mass gaming tables and 786 slot machines.

What is more interesting in this place for me is not so much the casino but just two things: the kaleidoscope of lights during the night that attracts a lot of tourists to take pictures outside the Grand Lisboa (like what we did) and last but the best attraction for me was the Star of Stanley Ho which is on permanent display inside the building. The Gemological Institute of America says that the 218.08 carats (43.62 g) diamond is the largest cushion shaped internally flawless D-color diamond in the world. In his unveiling speech, Dr. Ho said that the diamond, which is named after him, reflects SJM's timeless commitment to Macau. (source: wikipedia)

Skywatch#1 Hongkong & Macau

This is my first time to participate in Skywatch Friday. I have been bloghopping and found out about this meme and thought it would be fun to participate.

We decided to do a daytrip in Macau during our Hongkong trip last January. There were overcast skies and some slight drizzle when we arrived in Macau. But of course, that did not stop us from going around the place. I took this picture while we were on board our rental tourist van. The buildings across the bridge are the casinos that abound Macau.

Another overcast skies at the Victoria Harbour but there were still a lot of people, mostly tourists, walking around and taking pictures.

More skywatch entries here.
