My World#33 Sarangani Highlands, Tambler, Gen. Santos City

Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant is located just within the city boundary of General Santos City, Southern Philippines. It sits on a hilltop facing Sarangani Bay.

What I really like about Sarangani Highlands are the trees and flowers that were landscaped all over and the spectacular views of Sarangani Bay, the city proper and the mountains.

They accept catering services for weddings and any events and it has become a popular must-see destination for locals and tourists. More pictures here.

My World#31 El Nido, Palawan, Philippines

Palawan is considered the last frontier of the Philippines. Blessed with pristine, sugar-white beaches, emerald green islands and islets, rocky coves, limestone cliffs, underwater rivers, serene lagoons, mysterious caves, abundant flora and fauna, the place is truly amazing and my most favorite part of my country, Philippines.

The hereunder pictures were taken in El Nido, Palawan.

I consider the two lagoons (Big and Small lagoons) of El Nido, Palawan quite magical. The place was very quite except for the sound of the birds chirping and of our own voices. We did some kayaking in both lagoons and we could not quite get enough of it.

El Nido, Palawan (Big Lagoon)

I was looking through my pictures on my computer last week and found this video on our Palawan trip some years ago. I consider Palawan my most favorite place on earth especially El Nido and Coron Islands. These places are just so amazing and I really wish that it will remain the same as always for the next generations.

Here's one of the videos in our Palawan trip. We were kayaking at Big Lagoon, El Nido. I had so much fun. I never thought that kayaking was such a blast but so very tiring.

My World#26 Eden Mountain Resort

Eden Mountain Resort is located at the mountain slopes just almost an hour from the Davao City downtown. The place was originally denuded by logging but the owners started replanting trees and several years after, the resort was opened. It has its own nurseries for different kind of trees and vegetables. They have also started selling vegetables to supermarkets years ago.

The resort's amenities and facilities are dormitories, cabin houses, swimming pool, fishing area, zipline, convention areas, horseback riding, flower garden, amphitheatre and mountain trail hiking.

My World#23 Epol Waterfalls, Marilog, Davao City

Hidden by the forest and 300 meters away from the national highway, Epol Waterfalls is located just within the boundary of Davao City. It is one of the popular bathing places of the locals and has remained almost unchanged since we first went there several years ago.

To get to Epol waterfalls, one should be prepared to hike for about 30 minutes on a forest trail.

But the exertion is actually all worth it...the water is cool and quite refreshing and sometimes, you get to have the place all by yourself.

My World#22 Overview Park, Bukidnon Part II

In my previous post, I talked about the Overview Park in Bukidnon. Right across the highway and still part of the park is the hill where the helipad is situated. This is the entrance to the helipad. The place is still undergoing some improvements as can be seen along the road.

My World#21 Overview Park, Bukidnon

This is the Overview Park in Palacapao, Bukidnon. Situated along one of the many zigzag highways of Bukidnon Province, it is an interesting and invigorating stopover for weary and butt-hardened travellers. The eight-hectare park sits on top of a hill overlooking the municipalities of Bukidnon.

The park has been in existence for quite sometime now but recently spruced up with no less than the well-known Davao sculptor, Kublai Millan, doing about 50 sculptures of Bukidnon indigenous people in various mode of activities. Here are some of the sculptures scattered around the park:

This park is a project of Department of Public Works and Highways and collects no entrance fees.

My World#2 Camp Sabros, Kapatagan, Digos City

Camp Sabros is located in the highlands of Kapatagan, Digos City which is about an hour ride from the city proper. Digos City itself is an hour ride from Davao City. Going to Camp Sabros is easy. Coming from Davao City, we took the Holiday bus from Ecoland Terminal and were dropped off at the new Digos terminal. We took a pedicap going to the old Digos terminal and from there, vans and jeeps are available for hire at the old Digos Terminal. P80.00 for the jeep fare and just tell your manong driver to stop at the military checkpoint at Sitio Sabras. From the checkpoint, you hike about 30 minutes (about a kilometer distance) to the campsite.

Our fatherly jeepney driver made a deal with us. He’d take us to Camp Sabros and Agong House at P100 for each of us and we won’t have to do the “alas puno” thing for the jeep to get going. Thus, off we go! He suggested to pick us up at the military checkpoint by the highway at 12noon; but we were positive that we’d make it by 11am. Well, we didn’t expect to be too giddy to check out the time that by the time we made our trek back to our rendezvous site with him it’s already past 12noon and our tummies were already complaining big time for the missed lunch.

The grandfather of all Philippine mountains, Mt. Apo. Its peak is usually hidden by the clouds and we were just lucky that it showed its peak while we took our pictures with it.

Rough road going to Camp Sabros. The hike is 30-45 minutes from the highway depending on the pace. Prepare to go uphill but it is accessible by 4-wheel drive cars or by motorcycle which one can hire from the highway. Fare is P25 per person.

The 2nd zipline platform which is on top of the hill. This one is faster and longer than the first one and hey, this felt like your spirit was given a jolt at the first moments of going down the zipline.

The landing area for the 2nd zipline. The crew will have to be fast enough to catch you or you'll be hanging out above the forest. hehehe!

The motorcycles that ply the area. The area can get foggy because of its elevation. It does give a feeling of being among the clouds.

After the exciting zipline adventure, you can buy vegetables and fruits at the highway.
